Day Two - Hangin' Out In Chicago

We had a nice slow, lazy start to our day in Chicago yesterday. We got up, had some coffee and a light breakfast and hung out for a while with Kim and Justin. Here's a view from their apartment off Lake Shore Drive.

The cats as you can see were also glad to be out of the car and adapting well to their new surroundings.

Then we headed out to brunch at a local bar and restaurant called "Citizen Bar" where they served many a tasty meal and endless mimosas. Quite tasty! The service however left something to be desired and the waiter acted as if we'd killed his puppy every time we asked for something.

We did some sightseeing in Chicago afterwards including checking out the Sears Tower and some of the many bridges that go over the Chicago River. Each one is apparently unique architecturally (thanks for the tidbit, Justin!). We drove by the end of Route 66 (where we got our kicks).

But the monkeys favorite sightseeing site was Millennium Park. In it they have a number of very cool large scale installation sculptures including the giant "bean", an ice rink, and a great view of the public library and the Art Institute.

We also saw the national headquarters for the Elks Lodge (this one's for you Jenn and Carl!), which is oddly enough located right by Kim and Justin's building.

To round out the day we went up to the top floor of Kim and Justin's apartment/condo complex for a Spring Fling party and to check out the beautiful view of the North Shore and the Chicago downtown. The party was lame, but the food was pretty good and the view was spectacular.

To cap off the day we went to a local pizzeria/wine bar for dinner called Frasca where we enjoyed some good food and wine. These monkeys enjoyed some creative bruschetta, cured meats and cheeses, carpaccio, and a Rustica pizza. Delicious! And then Kim (who is an awesome masseuse) treated both of us to over one hour massages to get rid of some of the moving and road stress. Now that's the way to end a day!

It was a long, wonderful day spent in Chicago and all the monkeys were quite tuckered out by the end of it. Next stop... Iowa!!!
